Background

Ian grew up outside Cleveland, Ohio, focusing on concert band and pursuing a bachelor’s in music education. After college, Ian discovered rock climbing at a local gym and got hooked after two weekends outside.

He moved to the Red River Gorge, Kentucky and worked as a Single Pitch Instructor for about 3 years, climbing hard sport and taking trips to Squamish, Red Rock, and Yosemite. After a brief break, he moved to western North Carolina to pursue a career as a full-time guide. He loves welcoming new climbers into the outdoors and helping experienced folks improve their technique and work towards their dream objectives. Ian also enjoys reading, video games, and origami.
