Background

Based in Charlotte, North Carolina, Ian has spent years exploring the cliffs and crags of the Southeast and across the U.S.

A graduate of the University of South Carolina’s Hospitality program and former Gamecock diver, he discovered climbing in 2007 while traveling in England’s Lake District, and has been tied in ever since. Ian is at home on traditional NC cliffs but also enjoys bouldering, sport, aid, ice and learning technical rescue skills. He earned his AMGA Single Pitch Instructor certification in 2011 and brings a calm, safety-focused presence from his professional background as a Paramedic, Critical Care RN. When he’s not working or guiding, Ian is usually adventuring with his wife and two kids climbing, camping, biking, paddling, skiing, and discovering hidden gems and eateries throughout the Southeast.
